SGM in November 2022 – Nominations for Candidates

Just a note to update you all on the Special General Meeting to be held on 23 November 2022 at 7:30pm (GMT). The meeting is open to Full (paid-up] Members only and will be held virtually. Any member not able to attend the meeting can appoint a Proxy to vote on their behalf. A form of proxy is attached to this email.

The meeting will be managed by an independent Chair and is to serve a single purpose, to elect Board members for the Cherries Trust Board. An Agenda is attached to this email.

The cut-off time for nominations to the Cherries Trust Board passed at noon on 16 November 2022. There are 11 validated candidates for the 11 Board places available. The candidates represent a diverse range of backgrounds, interests and skill sets and should help to create an effective Board operating for the benefit of the membership and the wider AFCB community. Each candidate has provided a statement to help you judge their suitability and these are available online.

As there are as many candidates as there are vacant Board places, under Rule 8.2 we shall hold an affirmative vote. In plain language this means that provided a candidate receives 50% or more of the votes from those people present at the meeting and any proxies they will be deemed to have been elected to the Board.

Hopefully, with everyone’s co-operation we will be able to expedite the meeting and announce the result of the elections at the meeting.

Kind Regards,
Stuart Read, Secretary of the Election Committee
