Board Changes at Cherries Trust
It’s with sadness that Dom and Sam feel they needed to step away from the trust. A mismatch of styles, attitudes and communication approaches made the situation untenable for all involved.
As a result of this experience, Peter, Caroline and myself have decided to remain in position till elections at an AGM. After this we will all remove ourselves from what has sadly become unpleasantly personal and mostly toxic.
The Trust operates relationally and with wide discretions in the interests of the supporters and the community it serves. We have held off holding an AGM in the hope that supporters will put themselves forward to serve and become involved with us. However, as nobody has, we hope that by creating some space others may be more motivated to step up to serve to preserve its future.
We have done some amazing work over our tenures with the trust and wish all that step up to the plate the very best of luck. As a side note, there’s no need for rude or aggressive commenting here or privately with said Board Members.
The Cherries Trust is a micro organisation that punches above its weight, and has been run on the bare minimum of resources and the goodwill of a few individuals. The strength of views we have found it generates means, we hope, that this energy can be channelled so that the Trust can build from this base.
Hopefully Sam, Dom and many others will reengage and continue the efforts to maintain and build an independent supporters trust worthy of our club and its supporters.
If, reading this, you would be interested in stepping up then please contact our Secretary caroline.overton@cherriestrust.co.uk.
Cherries Trust are a voluntary, independent, not-for-profit organisation, relying solely on membership fees and donations to cover running costs. We are the only independent Supporters Trust for AFC Bournemouth.
