Cherries Trust Board Meeting – June 2023

Board Meeting held on 14 June 2023

The only exception in this reporting will be that confidential matters will not be included. These notes are a synopsis of the latest minutes and not the official minutes.

Appointment of officers:

Following the election, we have 3 new board members. Rob Webber, Ian Hensman, and Hilary Trott have all left the board. Thank you to all of them for their time and contributions. Sam has stood down as chair due to work/time issues and there were further reshuffles. The roles allocated are now:

  • Chair: Andy Smith – unanimous vote
  • Vice Chair: Sam Somers – unanimous vote
  • Treasurer: Sam Somers: – unanimous vote
  • Press and communications officer: Kevin Angel – unanimous vote
  • Membership secretary: Gareth Case – unanimous vote
  • Supporter Liaison Offer: Stuart Orchard (will take over enquiries) – unanimous vote
  • Community & EDI champion: Heather Hoggatt – unanimous vote
  • FSA & Trusts: Matt Jackson – remains as was
  • Secretary: Gayle Hope – remains as was

Chairman’s Report:

In relation to the unwelcome season ticket renewals compulsory purchases, firstly Sam spoke to Nick, the chief ticketing officer. Following that he and Matt spoke to the FSA.

The FSA wrote an article which was sent to the club for comment, the club asked them to wait until Monday. 24 hours after receiving the article from the FSA, the club made the announcement that they were removing the compulsory obligation to buy 2 tickets to women’s games as part of the conditions for renewal.

The board to board meeting has been postponed due to Neill Blake & Jim Frevola being unavailable.

Treasurer’s Report:

Cash: £12k+ in the Bank accounts. Income is surpassing target. Costs are within budget with nothing unexpected

Membership Secretary’s Report:

Currently we have 141 fully paid up members plus 230-240 subscribers. Current Twitter followers is 1811 and 914 on Facebook.

21 Enquiries this month, the majority of which were in relation to Season ticket renewals, there were also some relating to how to pay CT membership costs. The auto renewal has been set up and anyone renewing will return to the auto-renewal process. An automatic reminder email is being set up for those who are coming up for renewal. This will be sent out 1 month prior to the membership expiry date.

Talking Cherries:

Some of the Talking Cherries MHFA are getting close to having to renew their certificates. The CT Board will be supporting/promoting their fundraising campaign to cover the cost of the courses and will hold the funds for them as they don’t have a bank account. A separate donation button will be set up for donations specific to Talking Cherries.

Annual Fans Survey

This will be held in mid – late August.

Board decisions taken between meetings.

Gayle confirmed the following had been agreed or completed between meetings:

  • Accounts submitted to FCA – approved by FCA & published on their website 26 May 2023
  • End of year date change submitted to FCA – awaiting approval
  • Change of Rules submitted to FCA – awaiting approval

Laptop Update:

The board have a declaration confirming that there are no CT related files/folders or data in any form on the laptop and a donation will be made to the CT for the market value of the laptop. The board are satisfied with this and consider the matter now resolved.
